Effectiveness of Instructional Design and Technology in a Non-Traditional Parental Program

Sonja L. Howell’s embedded single case study explores how instructional design influenced participants’ perceptions of a nontraditional court-ordered parental instructional program. Ten parents contributed through interviews, reviews of findings, and written letters.

The study connects engagement theory, transformative learning, meaningful projects, and peacebuilding practices with the design of a supportive learning environment. Its findings concern the program studied; they are not a guarantee of outcomes for every family.
